    The main museum in Dubai, it appeared to be a little insignificant next to all of the wondrous new buildings going up. Only opened in 1971 it shows the very interesting way of life of the people from the 1800s onwards. Fascinating glimpses of life before oil, (only found in the 1950s), when there was nothing more than fishing, pearl diving and sunshine.

    Really enjoyed visiting Al Fahidi Fort & museum. Lots of interesting information about local life and the fishing trade that once established this ever increasing metropolis. Dont forget to check out the underground museum, we almost missed out. Only 3DHS per person entry fee.

    If you want to learn a little bit more about Dubai, apart from tall buildings, fast cars, and huge malls, its a must visit place. When we came there it looked small from the outside, but after roaming around exhibition rooms at the entrance, we found out that there are plenty exhibits and halls to see at the lower ground level. I dont like museums because almost everything is behind the glass. But here you get to walk around and take a closer look, sit next to exhibits and take a picture. But please dont touch

    Its is a must visit place.. Dont miss it. Entrance fees only 3 dh & inside its well air conditioned. Theres a shop inside sells books, photos, postcards & toys about Dubai. They also sell very good oud & Arabic perfumes but its a bit costly. Fort is one of the best museums in Dubai.

    Great museum, that shows the history of Dubai. It is placed in the one of the first forts of the city. Worth to visit. After the visit you will understand the fast growth of the city which started in early 70s.

    From Outside it seems to be very small museum but when you go underground its too big to show you how Dubai/UAE people used to live. The entry ticket is AED 3 per person which is absolutely worth. I would really suggest everyone to see it once.

    I always recommend this museum, very visual and you can see the way people lived in the passed. The only thing I dont like is when it gets over crowded, because the way through is very narrow.

    Nice place with interesting exhibits. You can spend few hours here if you want to read all the descriptions and see everything. You can learn about history of Dubai, and about life of Arabs before the oil. I would give 5 stars if all the descriptions were readable. Some of them were poorly lit, some were worn out. Still most of them were good. Worth the visit.

    The exhibits are good and gives you an appreciation for Dubais history, how far theyve come, how they did it, and how quickly they did it. Downside is the layout does not accommodate the high volume of traffic that they get these days. Droves of tour buses showing up means you can barely walk around and enjoy the museum. They should probably implement some form of crowd control.

    Al fahidi fort and Dubai museum is the same place. The museum displays old emirati culture and the history. Its a good place know about Dubai. 1 hour is enough to get around the museum. If you like reading all the important facts in the museums then it would take 2 hrs.

    A historical place telling the history of Dubai A Must See The place is located at the Fahdi Fort and its tells the humble beginning of Dubai. The Museum itself is a wonderful place to learn the history of Dubai. There are galleries at the Top and the basement leading to the exit. The galleries at the bottom take you through the history, the people, their trade, their lifestyle and many more. It is a wonderful place and a must visit in Dubai. The place could have been more interactive with some fun activities for Kids and elders to learn culture. The disconnect was the journey from such humble beginning to such great height today.

    Al Fahidi, the original fort that has been used to protect the city, is an unusual building in Dubai. Its built with bricks and straw and has a big courtyard in the middle. There are reconstructions of an ancient house (with the wind gallery), a boat and some tools. There are photos and videos explaining how life was before the discovery of oil. Spending a few hours there is a good idea.

    Its a great place to explore where and how it all begun. Finding a parking is a little difficult but I parked at Al fihidi souk which is around 1km and then took a walk to Fort. That way we we got to saw all the markets and streets of old dubai. Just 1 more km from Fort and you can ride Abra.

    A small rarity in the ever changing Dubai landscape. It resides in the oldest building in the city and it has an aged charm to it. It is decently informative on the local culture predating the oil boom and for the low entry price of AED 3, it is definitely a solid tourist point.

    Very short experience unfortunately, not much to view. Its a brief walk-through history of dubai and its past settlements. Theres very little in depth information. Im sure dubai has more to show. The only part that was very interesting cause of its documentary displayed with a projector was broken and under maintenance. Ive been there for a total of 3 times with guests that came over and only on my first time the projector was working. My second time and third time visiting the museum (2015 and 2016) had that section under maintenance. The price is 3 AED, close to 1€ in price for the entrance. However this is the main museum of Dubai and should have much much more to show.

    Historical museum of Dubai. You can see the process of development and feel their culture through visiting this place. Entrance fee is 3 Dirham. There is a place that you can park your car but it is really crowded. Overall good place to sightseeing.

    Good collections in a relatively small Anthropology museum. There was an amazing map on one of the walls. It was a historical map which has been drawn by a Flemish/Netherlandish cartographer and geographer named Abraham Ortelius (conventionally recognized as the creator of the first modern atlas, the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (Theatre of the World)) in 1570. On the map, "Persian Gulf" has been designated as "SINVS PERSICVS" which means "Persian Sea" and refers to "Persian Gulf". I took some pictures. (Based on December 2011 visit)

    A really great museum be it tourist or resident a like. The entrance fee is just 2 dirhams and you get to learn a bit of the history of Dubai, How the economy depended on divers and pearls, how once a Bedouin became this luxurious city, and even see Dubai in ancient times. Id advise to take time and learn what you can here not just walking around looking at things but really understanding whats on display. Ive been here several times with family members and it never ceases to impress.

    Dubai museum is a good experience to see how the ppl of this country managed to change there life from normal fishermen to one of the best cities in the world. A vision of one man. After u finish make sure to go to textile souk then ride the abra 1dhm per person . go to the other side and come back ull find an awesome caffe at the end of textile souk its terrace is on the water ull enjoy a magnificent view as hundreds of seagulls will be around. Tip: when ur in the abra take some bread and feed the seagulls !!

    It was quite crowded, but buying ticket was quick. The ticket itself is very cheap at 3 AED. The gallery and exhibition was okay overall, took about 2 hours to go through all the exhibition. A short walk to the Bastakiya Quarters, Grand Mosque, and the Textile Souk.

    Somewhat underwhelming. The museum is nice and you can learn quite a bit about the historic and contemporary pre-oil Dubai and what is now the UAE. The admission fee is tiny, more like a symbolic payment than anything. The museum itself is quite small really, but you could spend an hour or a bit more here easily. Its a little out of the ways of the main tourist areas around the Burj Khalifa, but quite close to the Spice and Gold Souqs ie. right across the river. You can catch a small ferry boat across at the nearby pier. Alas the whole exhibit seems to be light on actual artifacts and borrows a lot content type from theme parks. Feels a little like its manufactured. Still worth to check out thought if youre visiting Dubai, especially in combination with the Souqs. There wasnt a lot of people when we went, but that was in the middle of the day so that might be the reason.

The exibit is a good representation of the history of Dubai, and while it looks small from the outside - it sure is big once you get to the basemet exhibit. Samples of traditional houses (windowless, of course - for privacy) equipped with wind tunnels to ensure ventilation just makes this visit a never-to-miss part of being in Dubai. To come early is essential. When the tourist buses come in your quiet museum visit will be disturbed. Dont be dismayed. After all you can always come back.

    متحف دبي شارع الفهيدي, دبي ساعات العمل السبت حتى الخميس ٨:٣٠ - ٢٠:٣٠ لن تكمل الصورة عن دبي بدون زيارة متحف دبي. ستدهشون من المقارنة بين ما رأته أعينكم من حداثة بارزة للعين وبين ما يعرضه المتحف عن تاريخ ليس ببعيد لهذه البقعة من البسيطة. يقع المتحف داخل قلعة دبي العتيقة والتي تم ترميمها في سبعينيات القرن الماضي لتصبح حاضنة المتحف وبوابة الزائر لتاريخ البلاد. التغيير الذي حصل بفعل ازدهار المكان مع تطور التنقيب عن النفط والغاز وتحوله في أيامنا اضافة لذلك لأحد أهم المرافق الاقتصادية العالمية لحركات الأموال العالمية، السياحة والتجارة، هو تغيير وتحول يصعب على العقل تخيله. سيأخذكم المتحف إلى رحلة عبر الأزمنة التي كانت فيها دبي ميناء ومعبر للسفن بين القارات، اقتصاد محلي يعتمد على صيد الأسماك وقطف اللؤلؤ، عمران خاص يعتمد على أبراج الرياح كوسيلة فريدة لتبريد الأبنية السكنية، خرائط ومستندات قديمة والعديد العديد من استعمال التماثيل الشمعية للبشر والحيوانات لتصوير الحياة البدوية القديمة للمجتمع الإماراتي ما قبل القرن العشرين. يمكن الوصول للمتحف عن طريق استعمال المترو، فهو قريب جداً من محطة الفهيدي(خارطة ميترو دبي)، ويمكن أيضاً الوصول إليه بحراً باستعمال العبّارات، فهو قريب جداً أيضاً من مرفأ سوق دبي القديم، وإن قدمتم طريق المرفأ ربما ستودون التوقف بعض الوقت لزيارة مسجد دبي الكبير والمسجد الإيراني، كما ننصحكم بأن تتخلل زيارتكم وقفة تليق بالتمعن في حي البستكية وأخرى تليق بالإستمتاع المتأني في أسواق دبي التاريخية وخاصة سوق الذهب وسوق التوابل، هكذا يمكنكم الاستمتاع بيوم تراثي خاص بامتياز والتعرف على الجوانب التاريخية المختلفة لدبي. هل أعجبكم متحف دبي؟ ابحثوا عن فنادق بالقرب من متحف دبي!

    Historia en contraste con modernismo Debemos recordar que no hace mucho, Dubai era una villa de pescadores. Solo los recientes explotaciones de hidrocarburos, los convirtieron en regiones ricas y prosperas. Esto, sumado a la visión de de sus líderes los llevo a ser lo que son hoy en día. El museo por si mismo esta muy bien logrado, tiene representaciones de la historia de Dubai, sus viviendas, barcos, armas, alimentación, trajes típicos, ciudad y mucho más, es un poco… plano, quizás…aburrido. Si usted es un apasionado por la historia y la herencia de los pueblos este lugar es para ud. Hay muchas figuras de cera que representan elementos estáticos, arquitectura en tierra muy bien logrados, así como elementos de 1.000 y más años de antigüedad. Pero aparte de eso, no hay nada mas que hacer, creo que de alguna forma las representaciones juegan en contra del sitio, pues se sabe que son falsas o imitaciones de la realidad, entonces uno no sabe que es original y que es creado recientemente(excepto por supuesto por las etiquetas de cada cosa) Los accesos son adecuados para familias con niños de todas las edades, no obstante no creo que sea fácil mantener interesados a los más pequeños durante mucho tiempo así que una visita corta será suficiente. Las áreas que están a cielo abierto se caracterizan por el intenso calor del desierto, así que lleve con ud. líquidos todo el tiempo. El museo está incluido en los citytours normales, casi que ubicarlo debería resultar sencillo. En mi opinión, esta muy bien construido, pero estamos en Dubai y nos tiene acostumbrados a más grandeza(si se puede llamar así), así que estoy seguro que este sitio se continuara mejorando cada día.
