How can I possibly describe a house of worship so grand? The Sheikh Zayed Mosque (جامع الشيخ زايد الكبير‎‎) was built with one purpose, to give all glory to God on high. We desperately need to surround ourselves with places that allow for worship, reflection, and closeness with our Father. I was very grateful to be able to stand in this holy place. Dont be afraid to humbly but consciously ask others to be quiet while inside. Tour groups can be so difficult to deal with. Be an example for others.

This was a great day out - 1 hour drive from Dubai - 2 hours from Ajman (where we were) and very well worth it. We joined a small group and took in a few other sites and ended our day here. The Mosque is amazing - tons of gold from all over the world, white marble, an interesting history and the biggest carpet I ever saw! (shame they had to cut it up to transport it to the mosque). Very much recommended.

This is by far one of the most beautiful mosque I have visited in the world. It ls well Maintained and taken care off with attention to every little detail. Its magnificent inside and out, you need to spend at least a few hours here to soak in the beauty and the peaceful environment here. Wear proper attire. Its about a 1.5 Hr drive from dubai but its worth the trip down, cant be missed when in the area !!!

A beautiful monument and place of worship. Exquisitely constructed to the highest architectural standard, the quality and detail of the flower-themed decoration is breathtaking. Entry is free and visiting is easy and well-organised. Clothing must be demure, and they will lend you suitable garments if required.

Huge is an understatement for this place. Its construction cost amounted 2 billion dirhams. Its main hall has the worlds largest carpet(60,570 sq ft) weighing 35 Tons. It has some of the largest and beautiful chandeliers which are sure to spellbound any visitor. In my opinion need you need at least 2 - 3 Hrs. to enjoy this architectural marvel. Best time to visit is 5-6 PM as you can enjoy it in both daylight and Night Lighting.

Incredibly breathtaking especially when viewed up close, this grand mosque is certainly worth a visit if you are in Abu Dhabi, or even Dubai. Allow a few hours minimum here to take in the beautiful architecture. Best time to visit is in the afternoon to get the day time views and to see the sunset.

Exquisite architecture, under a perfectly blue sky. Built of White Carrara marble.Cheik Zeied Great Mosq is the largest of the Emirates . Unlike most momsqs in the Arb WOrld, this mosq can be visited by everyone in the World, Believers or not , but this feeling of Peace cannot be missed when one walks through the different parts of this religious building. I really enjoyed the visit. Many really awesome details, the stone parts enbedded in the pilars a a real marvel, they represent flowers petals. one can see from outside, many domes with different shapes that give a real nice balance to the outline of the building. On the floor of the main prayer room, there is a huge carpet a persian style one, the surface is almost 6000m² wide, and is the largest of the world ever created!! and no less than 1200 weavers realized the carpet concepted by Iranian Artist ALi Khaliki and it weights 7 tons!!! This is a really impressive building, that can host 40.000 people.

The biggest mosque of UAE panorama has been wonderful, the build, the light, the environment, the atmosphere, i felt a lot of things that remind me how can be beautiful the humans opera. Visiting the mosque at different hours of the day is recommendable. The most beautiful moment is when the sun go down and the light turn on, the blue on the external surface, the warm tone in the internal space, the gold details in the columns, simply wow! The most beautiful things are the 3 different internal areas: - The square or the court, really really big, where you can see all the structures perimeter, the border which fade with the dark sky, the illuminated hallways and all the people around; Do take care of the dress code as shorts are not allowed in the mosque. One can get the KHANDURA & ABAYA from the mosque itself. It is a compulsion for both men and women to come in appropriate attire.

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque or the Grand Mosque as it is commonly called has been really built on a grand scale. It is stated to be built over a period of around ten years. The mosque has a large number of domes and the walls, pillars and the roof are embellished with great artwork. The mosque is the chief place of worship by the local people. Persons entering the mosque have to observe proper dress code. For the women especially it is important to cover their arms and legs. Our cab driver was resourceful enough to carry a couple of Burkahs in his cab trunk which came in handy for my wife. The guide at the mosque takes visitors around stopping and explaining things at intervals. The trip lasts about 45 minutes. Visit to the mosque is not to be missed.

Very interesting place to visit. Be aware of their dress code, manly for women (catholic church has its dress code as well, you know if you ever visited Vatican). Its important to them, so even if you are not muslim you should show respect. Very impotent place as the same time the whiteness try to show simplicity. Weird the need to remove your shoes before entering the underground restroom (you know, male restroom floor usually not the cleanest place) even though they look to clean the floor around after every single use.

The most beautiful things are the 3 different internal areas: - The square or the court, really really big, where you can see all the structures perimeter, the border which fade with the dark sky, the illuminated hallways and all the people around; - The first internal room, by this place to the last in necessary to take off the shoes, you can leave them in the external court without problem. Inside this place there are a decorated walls, a fantastic chandelier over your head and my favourite, the enormous mirrored door; - The second internal environment, is the main place, under your feet there is an enormous decorated carpet, in the walls there are some beautiful designs, over yours head there are some fantastic chandeliers which illuminate the domes. The various octagonal islands are supported by large columns with golden decorations and in some place you can walk under this structures. At least one time in the life you must see this place!

A nice Mosque which is kept really clean and is beautiful to the eye, its a must visit for anyone going to the UAE. I must add that the Mosque is on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi city and you will have to get a taxi and from the mosque. We stayed at the Royal Rose Hotel and it cost us about 70UAE Dirhams for a return journey.

Truly magnificent! Totally worth a day-trip from Dubai to Abu Dhabi just for that. Appropriate clothing were provided for visitors not already matching the dress code, including men wearing shorts. Mashallah as said in Arabic world, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Named after the father of the nation(UAE) is not only prayer place for Muslims it is a Architectural Marvel. A Mega Structure took 10 years and over 3000 workers build over a massive 30 acres of land is a treat for the eyes. Carpet in the main prayer area is said to be the worlds biggest hand made carpet which is more then 65000 Sq ft.

Great tour guides, worth the time and absolutely free of charge, very entertaining and objective information respectful of all faiths. For those who are new to the customs, Come dressed modestly, men casual formal and women fully covered up, they also provide robes for people to change into if your normal clothes are not appropriate. Also be prepared to take off your shoes to enter the rooms in mosque, or toilets. Beautiful site.

Tourists must respect the rules here since its a really important place for (all) Muslims. The dress code must be followed and security guards will kindly see to it that you deleted photos taken inappropriately. (ex: photo subjects sitting on the ground, or hand-in-hand for couples.) The toilet was surprising. You go down to the basement by escalators and there you (are kindly advised that you) must take off your shoes and put them on a designated shelf. Afterwards, you enter the washroom area, which looks like a larger spa in Europe and when finding the actual toilet entrance, you have to put the provided slippers on (these are washed after use). There are several employees continuously washing up the floor and spraying disinfectant in the air. You go to your toilet booth, finish your business and when leaving the booth, an employee immediately jumps in and starts mopping the floor. You leave your slippers at the toilet entrance, wash hands, inhale further cubic meters of suffocating, lemony disinfectant and walk back to the underground reception area to find your shoes. Proceed with the awe...

I visited the Sheik Sayed Grand Mosque the 22 th of april from Dubai with the tour company Arabian Adventures and i am absolutely impressed with the mosque. It is a very big and amazing building it is for free but youll need to use proper dressing for enter the premises and the entrance starts with a security checkpoint and then you can go to the mosque. Be prepared to visit one of the most amazing and beautiful buildings in the world is a top must see when visiting the united arab emirates.

This building is magnificent. Its really well made and its enormous. Although devoid of a rich history like other religious places around, the built quality more than makes up for it. I visited sheikh sayed in the summers and so it took away a little from the place but I can imagine the kind of soothing effect it would have in winters. Definitely recommended!

Beautiful and spacious. There is also a cafe and gift shop to visit. It can be very hot there so prepare for that and there isnt much to do except take pictures and explore the site. You must take shoes off when going inside the big hall.

The place is beautiful and breathtaking! The ceilings are high with very intricate details. The chandeliers were huge and so beautiful. It has a massive prayer room inside and wide prayer area outside as well. It is also gorgeous at night with the light illuminating it. The Abaya was clean and it was obviously fresh laundried. The washrooms too were massive and clean. There were guards everywhere who made sure everyone follow rules for respect to the place. I would like to come back here again and Im sure Ill still be in awe like the 2st time.

I think men are ok in pants and t shirt. To borrow traditional dress it is free. Yes this is quite from from the centre, about 40 dirhams on a taxi. Well worth it. Must must do !

You can enter the Mosque at anytime but on Friday you should note that tours do not operate until after 16:00, all tours are conducted in English. Breathtakingly beautiful and just absolutely massive. You need to dress appropriately and there are signs around showing you what should be worn. Men and women cant walk in together but you can meet up once yourre inside and its just as spectacular on the inside as it is on the outside. It was quite busy when we went so expect to queue for a little while but its definitely worth the wait. We actually got dropped off by the taxi at the back of the Mosque so had to walk all the way around the front which too about 20 minutes so make sure you ask for the front entrance.

Ive visited this past few days for the first time and am still in awe of such beauty. A must do if you are in Abu Dhabi. Do yourself a favor and stick around for an official tour. Our tour guide, Mohammed, was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer everyones questions even questions pertaining to the Muslim religion and not specific to the mosque. Women- be sure to wear appropriate clothing that covers your arms up to the wrists and and ankles and a scarf to cover your hair. You will otherwise be asked to wear an Abaya. Men- no shorts or muscle tees.

If you make a group reservation in advance you CANNOT get abayas for your group. They do not tell you this anywhere. Our school group arrived and waited for an hour at the abayas rental counter while the staff working there refused to let the students borrow abayas. Needless to say this was quite disappointing as they students have come from many schools and wanted to experience this beautiful place. Unfortunately the poor communication from the reservation and the staff at the abayas rental area (in the underneath parking area) have turned this exciting day into a disappointment. Please read this if youre making a group reservation and learn from our misfortune.

Большое дело услышать азан в этой мечети - шейха Заида. Эта мечеть, которую должен увидеть каждый, вне зависимости от веры. Тут ходишь (босиком) по белому мрамору который лежик на подушечках (видимо), тут самый большой ковер в мире (42 тонны) и самая большая люстра в мечети !!! Вечером, вообще как в сказке у Алладина.

Je pojmenovaná po zakladateli a prvním prezidentu Spojených arabských emirátů, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Ten vybral místo a měl podstatný vliv na architekturu a design mešity. Mešita byla postavena 11 metrů nad mořem, a 9,5 metru nad úrovní ulice, takže je dobře viditelná ze všech směrů.

Очень помпезно и красиво!!!!! Впечатляет размах и богатство сооружения!!!! Мы были одеты в длинных платьях., с длинными рукавами, ткань естественно не прозрачная!!! но то ли у охраны настроения не было, то ли мы не понравились, тем что слишком красивые :) но нас всех отправили одеть черные страшные абаи. Меня конечно это возмутило!! Но иначе бы просто не пустили. Спорить бесполезно! Так что даже не знаю что можно порекомендовать из одежды! Как повезет! С другой стороны, если вы хотите фото в национальной одежде - лучше не придумать - вам выдадут одежду бесплатно, и пейзаж самый подходящий! Абаи выдают чистые. Под залог (подойдут права). Голову покрывать тоже обязательно! даже не намеревайтесь снять покрытие - за этим строго следят служащие внутри... Но не смотря на все строгие правила, конечно посетить я рекомендую! Где еще такое увидите!!??
